Dakyras once was a loving family man. But midst the chaos of war his wife was raped and then murdered along with his children. He coped by turning off his emotions and hiring out to murder. Thus is born Waylander The Slayer.
An employer of Waylander tricks him into killing the king and than Waylander, the stalker of men becomes the hunted. Sorcerers, armies, and assassins are after his hide.
While finding refuge in the woods he runs across some soldiers torturing a priest and he surprises himself and saves the priest. They become friends but they both find some of the other to be rubbing off on them.
That is when the ghost of the father of the king that he slayed visits Waylander and offers him a chance to somewhat make amends by finding a special set of armor that can inspire their people to survive the onslaught of their enemy whose only desire is to eradicate them.
Gemmell tells fantastic stories in a very special way. For fantasy, he fleshes out
the characters so they become much more than characters. They become living breathing human beings with all their attributes and flaws.
Great Read !!
