The Last List of Miss Judith Kratt: A Novel

Miss Judith Kratt - elderly woman in a small town - tells the story of her life in a roundabout way by making a list of the possessions in her house. Through this list making we meet her brother and sister and her old friend, her parents and her mother's lover, as well as various neighbors. We also hear a story of an old south consumed with racism and its ugly underside, but also of love that had to be hidden. The story was a little too roundabout for me although the list making technique was interesting. There were times when I was frustrated with Judith and some of her views and short tempered ness. But in the end you see how much she loves Olva and has always taken care of her in her own way.
