I love how Kilpack gets to the very heart of her characters allowing me to fully experience their emotions. Promises and Primroses is a shining example of a well-written story able to balance the perspectives of not only the main couple (Julia and Peter), but of a second couple--their relatives, Amelia and Elliot--and how their histories entwine. Even though enjoyable, I prefer couples to share more physical intimacies; this one by Kilpack is devoid of all but a stolen kiss or a single touch. A little frustrating, but still a good read. 4 stars.
