I read this in 2006 and it's still incredibly relevant, and unfortunately even more depressing, knowing how botched the Iraqi war has increasingly become. Clarke does a great job of outlining what counter-terrorism efforts were done in the four presidential administrations in which he worked. It's clear he favors Clinton, mostly because he was the most engaged in getting al-Qaeda. Towards the end of the book, he takes a few potshots at Bush and his administration (above the clearly necessary potshots), but overall I can understand his frustration and anger.
