I enjoyed this read with its many creatures and delightful heroine, Verity Price. Alas, it reminded me of the Black Jewels series with romance thrown in as she fights those who would unsettle her territory (the city, in this case). Of course, there are subtle differences. Those of the covenant are like people whose beliefs are set in stone. Yet, her associate from the covenant learns to respect those who are different and respects her valor and values while he fights by her side. Yes, it's a good read and I liked it. No doubt this is the beginning of a series for the author.
