I felt a little distracted by the interludes where a storyteller narrator seems to go over the past or the present story.. felt a little redundant and repetitive. Otherwise most of the book was written exquisitely. Very lush prose that sets Abe's writing apart. Interesting and complicated pair (Lia and Zane) as well and a set up for book 3.
