When security specialist Eve Garret arrives in a bad part of town for her meeting with Tiffany Clayborne, she is attacked and knocked out. Upon recovering, she finds that her friend, Tiffany, has been missing for three weeks and decides to find her. But Tiffany's father has hired private investigator Tyler "Mac" McClain to find his wayward daughter and bring her home. Eve and Mac know each other. He seduced and abandoned her 14 years ago. What starts out as a competition to see who can find Tiffany first, turns serious when an attempt is made on Eve's life. Soon the two are joining forces to find Tiffany who may actually be in danger.
This is the second book in Gerard's Bodyguards series. Eve and Mac are striking sparks off of each other from their first meeting. Both characters are smart, playful and likeable. I was happy when Mac apologized to Eve for abandoning her years ago. The suspense portions of the book are interesting. I figured out who was behind Tiffany's disappearance, but it didn't diminish the story. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
