This is such a luminous book! Whenever I get a new book, I always read the first paragraph -- with this book I found that I could not stop reading it at that point and just kept on going until I finished it. The writing just sparkles! It is also a book that can be read on many levels; it is a book about the relationship between sisters, it is a book about the process of creating art -- in this case, the Impressionist art of Mary Cassatt, the main character's sister, and it is a book about saying goodbye -- as Lydia Cassatt is dying of Bright's disease. This book is just a gem and I recommend it strongly!
