Suffice it to say that I thought that the heroine, Tris (Beatrice), seems to be younger acting than in Divergent. And Four (Tobias) seemed to act inconsistent. He was supportive but then he was not. Yes, I was disappointed but read it to the end anyway. In addition, I thought that the language seemed too simple for today's teens - at least the ones I know. Other readers may disagree but I felt that Divergent was much better.

There are parts of the novel that are quite good. Certainly the evil Jeanine was well developed and her character acted consistently. I think my favorite character was Peter who at least knew what he was about whether he was on one side or the other, whichever seemed to serve his interests best.

To find your only brother betraying you and ready to let you be killed seems unrealistic for whatever reason. The author had built a close relationship between Tris and her brother until the betrayal. At that point, I found myself saying: "Oh, come on!" In spite of these comments I liked it but find it difficult to recommend to others. My best advice is that if you read Divergent you will want to read Insurgent and judge it for yourself.
