Book Review of An Inconvenient Elephant

It's not what I expected. First off, I didn't realize that this book is a novel. As a novelist, the author isn't able to capture what I was really looking for in this book: a glimpse into the life of a conservationist in Africa. The main character only had a few encounters with the elephant she was trying to save before she took off back to America. From then on, it's more about her life, her troubles, and less about the relationship she had with the animal- truthfully, there wasn't much of a relationship. The animal was in Africa until the very end and she was in America dealing with an ex boyfriend most of the time. The cover, for me at least, was misleading. The title should also be named, "Getting Over Myself, and Dealing with my Ex". Second, I wasn't a fan of the main character. The author developed her into a compulsive, stubborn, animal lover who frustrated the hell out of me when I was reading.
