Sookie just wants her life to return to normal, but of course that can't happen. Instead the shifters come out, leading to what appears to be a hate crime. The FBI comes knocking about what Sookie did at Rhodes, but much more importantly a fae war is brewing leaving Sookie in more danger than she's ever been in before.

I really am enjoying the dark turn Harris has taken with the series. Sookie is being forced to grow up and deal with her life and her problems that she's tried to hide or avoid for so long. It's interesting how she's been able to face all kinds of supes so easily and yet manages to still attempt to hide from her own issues. Some readers might not like some of the darker, disturbing scenes, but I for one enjoyed them. As usual, the sex scenes are either cringe or laughter inducing, and the writing is still rather simplistic, but the story is good enough that it's fairly easy to overlook those things.
