The story of Amy Marsh and Swift (Antelope) Lopez which was begun in Comanche Moon continues in this novel.
After surviving capture and torture by Comancheros 15 years earlier, Amy moved to Oregon where she had started a life for herself devoid of any man's help or love. She had waited all these years for Swift to come for her as he had promised but it was too long now - she knew he was not coming - so she continued to internalized all her fears and loathings and self-doubts. She knew from newspaper reports who Swift had become and it filled her with revulsion.
This novel tells a wonderful story of how powerful a tool love can be in overcoming doubts, fears, mistrust and misunderstandings.
This is only the 2nd novel by Ms Anderson that I have read but it will not be my last. She tells a wonderful story that keeps the reader spellbound. A wonderful historical romance.
