Life was going well for Clare Wingate until she comes home to find her fiance; in her walk-in closet with the Sears repairman. Clare doesn't want to tell her best friend about her problems since it is her wedding day, so she doesn't say a word. She quietly drinks herself under the table. The next morning Clare wakes up in a strange hotel room with a terrible hangover and no memory of the night before; but she knows it involves her childhood nemesis, Sebastian Vaughan, who is also in the hotel room.
I was bored with this contemporary romance. Both Clare and Sebastian have parental problems. Sebastian is estranged from his father since he lived with his mother after their divorce. Now he has a chance to get to know him. Clare can never please her mother. She even becomes engaged to a gay man because her mother approved of his manners.
Clare doesn't trust men anymore and isn't ready for a relationship; but she is interested in Sebastian. He is a commitment phobic and agrees to a friends-with-benefits arrangement. Of course, that isn't enough for either of them.
I liked the first book in this series, but I didn't care for this one. There wasn't much of a plot at all. The pace was slow, and the hero and heroine spent a lot of time apart in the middle of the book. I hope the next book is better. My rating: 2.5 Stars.
