Constance and Saint spent a lot of time dancing around their attraction for each other which spiked the sexual tension but, in part, made the first in the Devil's Duke series a frustrating read for me. Knowing that she was a rape victim explained some of her reticence and her fierce desire for self-protection. The Falcon Club (led in secret by her father), and her participation in it were lackluster as was the secret society and the mysterious murders plots. Her father was completely repugnant for molding and using Constance under the guise of working towards his club's greater good. The highlight of the story was Saint; for his goodness, integrity, talents, protectiveness, and willingness to endure bodily harm for Constance's sake. Being a mere mister added to his overall appeal. He was the complete package and, indisputably, one of the finest male heroes to entertain your romantic fantasies. Saint alone makes this story 3 stars but without him in it, I'd say pass it over.
