Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde is treating herself to a weekend at a swanky hotel where she finds herself the sold witness to a murder. Her weekend gets even worse when the FBI gets involved and Special Agent Jack Pallas is assigned the case. Jack blames Cameron for almost ruining his career. Cameron can't stand him because of a derogatory remark he made about her to the press. These two may not like each other, but they are definitely striking sparks off of each other. Now they must work together to solve a high profile murder.

I've been hearing so much about this series, I finally decided to read the first book. I'm so glad I did. This book has so much going for it...wonderful characters, great plot, and witty dialogue. Finally, a heroine that is being guarded by the cops because her life is in danger, who doesn't do something stupid like take a stroll in the dark or say "I can take care of myself" when we know she can't. Cameron has brains!!! She knows someone wants her dead and she isn't about to endanger herself. Thank you, Julie James, for writing a smart heroine.

Jack and Cameron make a great couple. The sexual tension is sizzling. I really believed they loved each other by the end of the book. I loved the secondary characters in this story. Jack's partner and Cameron's friends are hilarious and made me laugh out loud. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. My rating: 5 Stars.
