Madeleine Albright's family requested political asylum to the United States from Czechoslovakia when it became Communist in 1949, when she was 12. She does not find out until both her parents are dead in the 1990's that both her parents Came from Jewish families. It is a shock to her and she goes back to Czechoslovakia to learn their story. She was raised Christian in England during World War 2. She tells the story of her family, the US, Britain, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union from 1937-1948 but some before and after. It is a most interesting story which I had not heard before. It is both Happy and Sad. Why do people do what they do? She gives her evidence then draws conclusions. I did not always agree with her but she tells an interesting story that needs to be heard.
