"Mark it with a Stone" was such a good book, that I found it difficult to put down after I started. Joseph (or Yassek as he was know in Poland) fought formidable odds to stay alive through barbaric and degrading conditions. He took notes during his imprisonment and was determined to survive the war in order to let the world know what had gone on during the Holocaust. He also wrote of the few acts of kindness he encountered during this dreadful time. He suffered through brutal conditions at both Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bergen-Belsen camps and fought the odds; he was liberated at the end of the war. Joseph Horn survived to see this book published. "Mark it with a Stone" was originally published in 1996, and Mr. Horn died in 1999. In this version of the book, his daughter wrote the introduction in order to let readers know how important it was to her father that the message of the Holocaust out to the world.
