I mean . . . 21 hours of audiobook borrowed from the library means I started this just over 3 months ago.
At first I wasn't sure why I was reading it, it had been recommended by Bitch magazine I think, but it's also tagged as horror, and that's not me. I wouldn't call it a horror book, it is about horrible things, and it's reminiscent of Colson Whitehead's The Nickel Boys, so if that was too much or enough for you, maybe don't reach for this huge tome.
