I first became interested in this book when the film was released. While the film departed from the short story in many very significant ways, I nevertheless enjoyed immersing myself in Fitzgerald's Jazz Age tales. As noted in the very excellent forward to the stories, the stories themselves vary widely in quality and technique; however, they reflect the heart of an author who was very willing to step out on the precipice and experiment with new forms,a Fitzgerald I hadn't really seen before.
