After 177 pages I gave up. What I'm looking for in my romance reads are characters who have to overcome obstacles to be together, not characters who don't even like each other! I did not begin at the beginning with this series, so I was willing to admit some fault for all the lingo I needed to learn. The Mayan endtime piece was interesting, but start with book one if you're trying the series. There are multiple sets of couples here and only one of them is happy. There's enough angst in the real world; I want my escapist fantast reads to have happy people. I also got pulled out of the story every time the author used a random abbreviation, like convo for conversation.
