Rachel finds a body in the woods and is considered a prime suspect because the victim is identified as her boyfriend's estranged wife. 20 years ago, Rachel was Casey, a young nanny trying to make it as an actress in Los Angeles. The family she worked for were brutally murdered and all the evidence pointed to her and she went to prison. She narrowly escaped the death penalty and managed to free herself on appeal and changed her name to Rachel. Now she's fighting to save the life she's spent years putting back together. Was her discovery in the woods really just a coincidence, or is someone framing her for murder? Someone who knows she is Casey, and wants revenge. This book is a hard-to-put-down page turner with interesting characters. The chapters switch back and forth from 20 years ago to the present. The suspense builds with surprising twists. It kept me guessing until the very end. I have read and enjoyed all of McGowan's books including her Paula Maguire series except for the Killing House which I will be reading very soon. I would like to thank NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for a free copy for an honest review.
