The Country House Courtship is the third book in the series. I really wanted to like this book, as much as I enjoyed the first one. It wasn't possible, though. Instead of getting pulled into the story myself, I felt like someone was telling me what was happening. Everything dragged through the first half of the story, thanks to slow pacing and not much happening.

Beatrice was spoiled and stupid, worse than any 17 year old should be, and she didn't change until very near the end of the book. I was happy to see that Peter O'Brien had matured from the first book. For a book that is supposed to be about Beatrice, Ariana was the focus entirely too often.

With the profusion of new inspirational Regency romances in the last couple of years, I think there are better books waiting to be read. Probably the thing that turned me off the most, though, was the note at the end of the book promising a freebie from the author in exchange for 4 or 5 star Amazon reviews. Keep that little tidbit in mind when reading the reviews for this book.
