Written in 1936, this British Classic Mystery is a real puzzler. It is the classic love triangle of two brothers and the wife of one. The brothers share a home and farm and also run a lime making business in Sussex. One of the brothers disappears. He was in love with his brother's wife. When the man's car is found damaged and bloody hidden in the woods, Superintendent Meredith is called in to investigate and when human bones are found in the lime from the kilns, he is sure that the other brother murdered his sibling to save his marriage. But it is not an easy case and much more mayhem follows until the startling conclusion of the baffling mystery. A very entertaining read.
