Lots of people really enjoyed this book, and there is a lot to like. Extraordinary vocabulary. Wonderful descriptive phrases which bring the surroundings to life. Depictions of the panhandles of two neighboring states in such a way that they are clear, even if you've never seen them in person. Unfortunately, the plot is dull and so are the characters, the majority of which have outragously bizarre names like Rope Butt, Ace Crouch, Ribeye Cluke, Charles Grapewine, and more. And that's in just two pages...ridiculous, even for that part of the country! Not very exciting, just okay to read unless you want a virtual tour of the area in question. I can't recommend it. D.
