About 7 words a page, but some compound words, so probably you should wait until 1st and 2nd grades before giving to your kids to read alone, unless they're precocious. I've worked for a school district that thought a dog could do my job. But apparently, in this school, substitute teachers are allowed to nip at the heels of students that don't follow directions.
