The story of the developing relationship between Anna and Charles is one of my favorites in all of fiction. And Ms Briggs is a fine story teller in many other ways.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good love story, and isn't too picky that the world its set in be purely realistic.
It's a good idea, though, to read the short story, Alpha and Omega, that is the prequel to this book. In it, Anna and Charles meet, and its wonderful. The good guys win! It's in an anthology, the name of which I cannot remember.
