Lady Merritt Sterling has been a widow since her husband died when his ship sank in a storm three years ago. She now runs her husband's shipping company with the help of her brother. When Merritt meets Keir MacRea, a whisky distiller from Scotland, he is very upset. His whisky shipment has met with many problems, and he is losing money as each hour goes by. Merritt is immediately drawn to Keir, wanting to know him better. As she works to solve the problems with the shipment, Keir is quickly captivated by her.

Even though I liked both Merritt and Keir, I thought the first half of the story was a little slow. After attempts on Keir leave him injured during an attempted murder, he is taken to the Duke of Kingston's home to recover. That is when we learn about Keir's past and who exactly wants him dead.

This is the last book in the Ravenel series. I felt like it should have been part of the Wallflower series since several characters from that series were heavily involved in this story. Actually, the older generation including Sebastian, Evie, Westcliff and Lillian was my favorite part of the book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
