I have read so many of Martha Rogers books I have almost become used to them. But she still has that element of surprise that comes out and grabs you! This one opens with a Sheriff finding a young woman sick in the freezing cold. If you have been following her Seasons of the Heart Series you will recognize many of the characters in this book. If you have not read the previous books, I would ruge you to as the characters can be a bit much. Even with me knowing them I had trouble a couple times remembering who was with who.

Cory is a great hero but somewhat overbearing at times. I guess overprotective would be the right word, but even protective is sometimes too much for a person. Libby needs that quiet protection without the overbearing. She is scared of men and tired of being used by them. She is very sweet with the children and she longs for a family but realizes men will have nothing to do with her after her past. This causes some friction once she finally tells the Muldoon clan but Cory comes through with flying colors. The subject of her past is dealt with very carefully and delicately, which I appreciated.

Overall a great historical novel that is a good ending. I know Martha has done some prequels, etc to her other series so maybe we will see something like that in the future for Season's of the Heart. Great book!
