Andrew Vachss is a social worker who works with children. This is a wonderful compilation, published by Dark Horse comics and illustrated by a number of graphic artists (but not a graphic novel), of his free-ranging essays on what childhood *ought* to be but often is not. Beautiful, inspirational and sometimes very sad. I recommend it not just for parents but for anyone who loves children and has special children in his or her life. A book to be cherished and then passed along.
