Bland and predictable, this book reads like a G rated soap opera. Focusing on the contrived trials and tribulations of the denizens of a homey Seattle neighborhood, the story holds no surprises. The mismatched couple breaks up over a fairly ridiculous misunderstanding; the jilted homemaker turned businesswoman loves her second husband while fending off her philandering ex and dealing with her petulant daughter and devoted son. It has a dated feel where unplanned pregnancies and quickie weddings abound. The center of social activity is a floundering yarn shop which is the beneficiary of a mysterious knitting campaign. The owner must deal with her traumatized adopted daughter and infirm mother. Of course, it all ends happily ever after with sweetness and light.
