I didn't expect to like this book very much, because of all the hype. BUT, I loved parts of it and I enjoyed the whole thing. The Italy section was my favorite, and India was interesting, although Indonesia dragged for me a bit. I found that although Ms. Gilbert pontificated a lot, I did identify with how she described loss (especially divorce). Overall it was well-written (although she could have used a stronger editor), and engaging. But the brilliant part is that every few pages, there would be a line or a phrase that was so true, that it became a revelation, and became meaningful to me. Those were the parts I loved.
