Unexpected in a very good way, but also sad or bittersweet
About the author: Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors: one can count on him to deliver a great story along the lines of a Hallmark movie, consistently good, enjoyable and fun. The only drawback to his books is that they are very much along the lines of boy meets girl, girl doesn't like boy, and boy overcomes girl's concerns. So read his books with time between them, and they won't run together.

Do you need to read in order? Each book (so far) stands on its own so you can read them in any order

Triggers: bullying of school kids, cancer, illness, major character death

A fantastic story about a couple of high school kids, who didn't like each other very much at the beginning and their very unlikely love in a small North Carolina town back in 1958. If it doesn't make your eyes water at least just a little bit, you have no emotions.
