I truly enjoyed all of the Murderbot series on audio so came back to this earlier work when I had run out of those. Maybe it was the audio format, but I had trouble keeping the characters straight and felt like I didn't know what was going on for quite a while. Even after an 18-hour listen, I still don't know why the Gardier are attacking other realms. I appreciated the world building and the relationship between the lead characters.
