In the previous book in this series, Allingham seems to take a more humorous approach to murder. A lot of what takes place provides a counterpoint to the horror and stress of the numerous murders. While certainly different from her previous books, I still enjoyed it.

In this book, she seems to go even further, to the point where the deaths, and the investigations, are almost an afterthought to a comedy which is taking place throughout the book.

Perhaps, after writing so many serious mysteries, she decided to have some fun. It will be interesting to she what she does in the next book in the series.
