What can I say? I'm a children's literature major so I decided to see what all the hype was about this series. I found it an easy read, full of teen angst and romance. Like many vampire/human relationships, this one has the usual rocky patches but true love come through.
The characters are fairly believable. The story does have a timeless quality about it, much like the TV shows Moonlight and True Blood. Edward the vampire is appropriately mysterious and Bella the human is enjoyable. I could really relate to her when I considered my own years in high school.
The undercurrents of attraction and loyalty are strong. This book seems to be extremely popular with preteens, teens and adults. After reading it, I can understand. I will be reading the remainder of the series as I now am interested in finding out what happens in this relationship.
