I read this book without reading the first book, not knowing it was a series. You will have no trouble keeping up with the story line though, as past incidents are clearly explained without taking anything from the plot. The ending does seem a bit anti-climatic, however the story is enjoyable. I would recommend this for a good reading if you are to take a trip, or to relax with something that will not tax your mind too much.
