Murder Most Finicky is the fourth in the Pawsitively Organic cozy mystery series. Kristan "Stan" O'Connor is enjoying the success of her homemade pet treat business in Frog Ledge, Connecticut.
Stan has been invited along with other star chefs to the prestigious Rhode Island home of Sheldon "Mr Pastry" Allyn. Sheldon has promised backup investment money to Stan to help her establish a storefront for growing business. In exchange, Stan has agreed to participate in a presentation along with the other chefs for a representative of the Food Channel, with one lucky participant given the opportunity for their own reality show.
Stan is reluctant to leave Frog Ledge and boyfriend Jake McGee, but once she learns that Nutty, her beloved Maine Coot cat is going to be a part of the 3 day weekend she hops in the car for the short trip to Newport. Upon arrival to the mansion, Stan stumbles upon the dead body of chef Pierre LaPorte. Things go from bad to worse when fellow chef Kyle McLeod goes missing and becomes a prime suspect and then celebrity replacement chef Vaughn Dawes disappears mid flight from the West Coast.
To complicate matters even more Stan is contacted by her sister Caitlyn whom she has a distant relationship with at best. Caitlyn admits that she's been having an affair with Kyle and is now worried that his disappearance means that something has happened to him as well. Caitlyn begs Stan to help her find Kyle and to uncover the real killer.
A fun plot with a great cast of characters and animals that will keep you turning the pages. A twist in the relationship between Stan and Jake at the end definitely has me looking forward to the release of the next in series.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review, I am more than happy of offer my honest opinion.
