This book was good enough to lead me to the others in the series. It was complicated - lots of characters and points of view. I kept it because I like to re-read books. On second reading, I couldn't make it through and skimmed mostly to the end. From the start the age difference between Dante and Heather bothered me. I think Phoenix spends a lot of time developing the world, the backstory, the bad guys and not much time on the romance. If you read this as a paranormal or vampire romance lover I think you'll be disappointed because not much happens. There is almost no sex and the end of the book is very ambiguous. Of course the ambiguity - cliff hanger if you will - is what made me read the next book. I did get into the series in the next installment but I admit that after my second read of this book, I posted it back on PBS to trade.
