I hadn't heard much about the author, Larry Dossey, other than he was a physician who advocated the use of prayer. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he is quite and sophisticated and exceptionally intelligent philosopher and scientist. The book is divided up into chapters expressing the different perspectives of thought and faith, which is almost like a written debate. I came away very impressed with the caliber of his thinking and his ability to clearly make persuasive arguments based on philosophy, history and science.
