Two armed men enter the policy station in tiny Heartsdale, Georgia and open fire. When the shooting stops, an officer is dead and Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver is seriously wounded. Sara Linton, along with a group of schoolchildren, is held hostage. The sins of the past have caught up with Sara and Jeffrey. This is another good book in the Jeffrey/Sara series by Karin Slaughter. If you've enjoyed the others, you'll like this one.
