Don't believe the hype. Keegan was a promising writer, but not yet a real writer. Her essays and stories read exactly what they are, a student writing for class. I couldn't even get to the half way mark, just not interested in spending more time reading about rich kids at Yale doing drugs. I have far more interesting nieces who are excelling in classes and volunteer work who don't do drugs. Perhaps I should write their stories...oh, but I don't have rich parents to promote my book. While I'm sorry she died a tragic death at such a young age, I just don't understand why Anne Fadiman thought this book deserved to be published. So glad I didn't pay for it.
