A grim but gripping story of a young woman, Sally Jackson, daughter of the American Ambassador to Germany during the period of Hitler's rise to power. Her marriage to a childhood friend, a young lieutenant in the SS, and her relationship with Reinhard Heydrich, continue to haunt her during her postwar work in 1946 Berlin. It was page turner, and very worth reading, but gosh, what a sad story.
