The story surrounds main character Suzanne Dietz. After the death of Suzanne's husband, Dr. Walter Dietz, she inadvertently started a new gathering place in the small town of Kindred. The Cackleberry Club is a restaurant/book shop/tea room/knitting class that took off like a hot rocket.

She along with her friends Toni and Petra keep the club running. One day, Suzanne's lawyer is found dead in his car behind the club. The murder leads from one thing to another until her beloved husband, Walter, is implicated in a scandal. What secrets will Suzanne unearth?

I genuinely enjoyed this book. You get very comfortable with the characters and enjoyed the situations they found themselves in. Along with a very good story, the back of the book gives recipes to some of the delicious concoctions that you read about in the book.
