I'm walking away at the halfway point because the historical story is just too sad. The present day one has promise with the hunky carpenter and the idealistic interior designer. It's a pandemic snowed in blizzard weekend for me and I wanted a guaranteed happy story. This one says "because happily ever after is just the beginning" right on the cover. The orginal owner of the house in the story is trapped in a loveless marriage with an alcoholic vindictive man, so I'm out.
