Readers witness the engaging yet humorous courtship with a young woman he meets and is determined to marry. Porter proves himself in friendship and loyalty to his neighbors, and even as a teen becomes their protector. In a surprise move, the young woman he loves agrees to marry him.

I read this whole book at least once and Porter fits more a criminal man than a servant of God. His death is an interesting end.
