I am usually a fan of literary works with endings that are open to interpretation; however, this one is way too DIY for me. Often authors with open ended stories will offer some dots to connect, and maybe those dots could be connected multiple ways and everyone is left connecting dots as they see fit. While endings like those are ambiguous and maybe even frustrating, this book was not even that. The dots given by this author are vague and cannot even be connected. Any ending you can come up with will suffice because there's no case to be made for or against any possible interpretation.

I agree with one reviewer on Amazon who said it best (in my opinion). She said, "the critics' use of the words surreal and mystifying are really just describing unexplained and unclear." This one is definitely unexplained and unclear.
