D.I. Kim Stone is called to the home of Samantha Brown, a young woman who was found dead in her apartment. At first it looks like a suicide. But after Kim and DS Bryant notify Samantha's parents about her death, questions start to arise. More investigating makes them decide that this was a murder. Samantha had been living at Unity Farm, a community that was run by Jake Black. She was recently taken from the farm by a man who was hired by her parents. They believe Unity Farm is a cult. As more bodies begin to pile up, they find ties to Unity Farm and Jake Black.

Meanwhile, DS Bryant is worried about the possible parole of a killer. As a patrol cop, Bryant was the first to find the raped and mutilated body of Wendy Harrison. Bryant helped arrest Peter Drake for the murder, but not before he killed other women. Now that Drake is up for parole, Bryant is worried about how this will affect Wendy's father and one of Drake's victim's that got away.

This book had two very good mysteries. There was a lot of talk about cults and what made people vulnerable to being recruited into a cult which I found fascinating. I liked the mysteries but did think that there were a couple of situations that seemed a bit of a stretch as far as plausibility. My rating: 4 Stars.
