Lt. Eve Dallas finds herself up against a group of terrorist-vigilantes attacking those they feel have escaped justice using a computer virus that fatally jumps to people. A horrible death awaits those infected, and Eve must risk Roarke, Feeney, McNab, and many others close to her as she tries to prevent the terrorists from taking over - a fight that means she has to deal with political and media issues as well.

The storyline is a great foil for all the complicated relationships this series is known for - the push and pull in the marriage of Eve and Roarke, the friendships she never wanted but couldn't now live without, etc. There is a very fun moment half of the way through the story with Mavis (love Mavis!) that completely throws Eve for a loop (don't want to spoil it for you) and shows how much she is willing to change to keep her friends, even in situations that throw her completely out of her depth.
