I wouldn't say this book was predictable, but I would say there was a lot of gratuitous twists and turns to keep the reader interested enough to make it a best seller. It was a good book, with an interesting plot, but there was so much going on. Every chapter had another plot twist and added character, making me feel like the writer didn't feel the original characters and storyline carried enough merit on their own. I liked this book, but didn't love it. I wanted the writer to expound on the characters on the boat. It felt like they were there solely to tell the story of the greedy attorney. Something was missing from this book, but I can't put my finger on what it was. It felt written for mass production, not for the purpose of storytelling. This was my first James Patterson book. I will probably read more in the future, but I'm hoping the rest of them have a little more meat for true book lovers, and not so much dessert for those who need a surface summer vacation read.
