I must admit that I did not read more than two chapters, and Im afraid I found very little to recommend The Pemberley Chronicles. Im not sure which is the bigger sin the dull, turgid writing or the characters that were not true to Austens. I put the book down when Elizabeth and Darcy traveled to London and stayed with Jane and Bingley at Bingley townhouse because (Im assuming here) Darcy did not possess his own and then Bingley took Darcy to his club (again Im assuming because Darcy was not a member of a gentlemans club). I found it impossible to accept that Darcy, with twice the income of Bingley, did not have a family home in London and also did not belong to a club. This boded so ill for the rest of the book, which was a bit tedious to begin with, that I gave up.
